Llantwit Major School World Book Day
Thursday 5th March-World Book Day- was marked, by both pupils and staff at Llantwit Major School, by dressing up as their favourite book character. As always, costumes were outstanding with this year’s overall winner dressing as Effie Trinket from the extremely popular Hunger Games trilogy. Runners up included a Hermione Grainger from the ever popular Harry Potter series, the Cat in the Hat from Dr Seuss’ book of the same name and Doctor Who from the TV series that has spawned its own series of novels. All pupils and staff took part in the school ‘shelfie’ competition to guess who bookshelves belonged to in a ‘through the key hole’ style competition. The day was organised by the English department as an excellent way to promote literacy and to encourage pupils to take an active interest in reading.
