Dragon's Den
On Tuesday 29 November, Llantwit Major School was transformed in to a hive of entrepreneurial activity with Year 10 taking part in ‘Dragon’s Den’, where they were given the task of developing a business proposal for an Innovative Idea as part of the Welsh Baccalaureate course.
Year 10 students were asked to create a visual display board on ‘Wearable Technology’ and then pitch their idea to a group of financial experts. The ’Dragons’ were really impressed with the level of inventive ideas, the quality of the displays and the pitches made. However it did make judging extremely difficult!
During the day the students displayed a number of skills including leadership, management, presentation, team work and creativity; all which will prepare them for future employment.
In Year 10 three teams were awarded £50 worth of Amazon vouchers for the following categories:
Best product idea – ‘Globe Speach’ comprising Georgia Bingham, Freya Hardwicke-Merry, Nia Johnstone, Katie Taylor, Summer Mason and Nathan Morgan
Best visual display – ‘Porta-net’ comprising Dan Carini, Zak Williams, Josh Gray, James Vickers, Nathan Pownall and James Llewellyn
Best pitch - Meghan McDonald, Erin Middleton, Alex Zalasar, Jo Godfrey, Ieuan Lewis
Our thanks and appreciation go to Mr D Mutlow, Chair of Governors and Mr J Clark, Governor for their assistance as ‘Dragons’ on the day.
